I am a practicing artist and teacher who graduated from Manchester University in 1994. My work is multi-media art incorporating collage, texture, surface manipulation and light. My subject matter ranges from natural fruit forms and landscapes to abstract self interpretation.

My influences are centred around the arts and crafts movement and I take particular inspiration from such artists as Gustav Klimt, C.R.Mackintosh, Egon Schiele and later the Bloomsbury artists and the Bauhaus designers.

My use of these influences is loose and involves the play of pattern, asymmetry, light and composition with the use of gold leaf and iridescent materials to create reflective surfaces.

I maintain strong links with the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists (RBSA) and exhibit my work frequently. My next exhibition will be a joint collaboration with my father, Malcolm Brookes, for details please click the button below.
